When Inspired.....
So, there I am warming up on the treadmill at my gym looking at the sun finally break through the clouds outside and sending a brilliant orange light inside.
After having a "inspirational" conversation with my trainer that day, I was wondering what on earth I was doing inside when the road was calling to me so clearly.
So I hopped off the treadmill right there and headed out the door, with nothing on but my t-shirt, gym pants and running shoes. It was chilly, but I figured that if I kept moving I can handle anything! The WOLF took over!
The first 15 minutes were not easy, but also not impossible. The climb then got a little more challenging. As I turned around to do my second set of 15 minutes, the sun dipped below the horizon. Then the cold really hit me. The wind did not stop buffeting me from all sides. My brain kept telling me to find somewhere to crawl into, try and get warm or just give up and die. Luckily there was a louder voice tell me DON'T STOP RUNNING. That was the one I listened to. The cold air made my lungs feel like they were on fire and sent a sharp pain below my ribs. I finally had to walk for a few minutes taking deep breaths behind my hands to ease the pain. But finally I did up my pace and ran into the gym out of breath and completely numb.
The receptionist looked at me with pity saying I should go steam to defrost, but there was no way I was going to be a woosie now. So I did another 20 minutes on the treadmill to warm my body up and make up for the slow pace I was only capable of in the ice cold outside.
So lesson for today: Don't let inspiration make you stupid/suicidal

2011 - New and improved
OK, So I have been missing in action for the last year, but I am back and better than ever!
Alot has haapened since March 2010. I lost 30 kg, got active and started living my life to its fullest.
To get to this exciting point in my life I had to endure alot of pain, but I am proud of who I am now.
New and improved Michelle.
I have taken up a fabulous new "obsession". TRAIL RUNNING.
I am doing my first Gauteng Winter Trail Series and loving every minute. Will post pics and comments of the last run on Sunday. 11.5km. Wish me luck!
